INTRODUCTION TO GEOGRAPHY


1.How do you understand Geography?


In my opinion, Geography is the study of Earth’s elements such as lands,
maps, inhabitants, and correlation between humans and environment. Most
importantly, Geography explains the connection between human beings and
surroundings in society. Moreover, modern era is now studying Geography to
understand the causes and prevention of geographic disasters.


2.Why study Geography?


Firstly, in order to know the origin and heritage of oneself within sophisticated
and changing world, people need to study Geography.
Secondly, to understand more about climate changes, social cohesion, global
warming, global political issues, and water resources and etc.
Thirdly, to get build a career or get a professional job as Geographer as
Geographer job position is high in demand and salary.
Lastly, to appreciate Earth, to use the resources wisely, and to survive
nowadays economic, man needs to learn Geography.


3.What is Geography?


A literal definition of Geography is “ the description of Erath”. The very first
man to utilize the word Geography was Eratosthenes (276-194 BC). Many
people defined that Geography is the study of places and environment, and
reactions between mankind and Earth.
According to William Hughes, 1863, Geography is the research to arrange
occurrences, to rise from effects to causes, to trace out the nature’s laws.
Geography can be divided into physical geography and human geography.

Physical Geography: emphasizes on Earth Science, which leads to explain the
physical problems and issues of atmosphere,biosphere and issues of the plant
Earth.

Human Geography: is the study of ornaments and series of actions that create
the mankind society.It encompasses the human,political,cultural,social and
economic aspects.
